Update: 04.11.22
As you know, the consultation period closed on Sunday 23rd and all of the documentation submitted via the portal / emails / letters / petition are currently being analysed by the council team ready to present to the Executive Board in the form of a report. Thank you for all of your support with this - I sincerely hope it makes the difference and convinces the Board that Queensway closing is not an option they should be considering.
I attended a meeting on Monday morning with MP Alex Sobel, Cllr Jonathan Pryor (Head of the Exec Board), ward councilors headteachers and governors from surrounding schools. The intention was to explore the option of other schools reducing their numbers but unfortunately, no progress was made at this point.
Me and some representatives from our parent action will be presenting a deputation to council at the Civic Hall on 16th Nov, where we have 5 minutes to share our objections and make our case heard in front of a full council. This will help the council understand our determination to prevent the closure and hopefully make them reconsider before the Executive Board meet to decide whether to halt the process or continue to stage 2. This meeting will take place on 23rd Nov.
We are planning on taking our Year 4, 5 and 6 children to the meeting on the 16th to show unity before the meeting begins - just like what we saw at the start of our protest march from Yeadon Town Hall (letters have been sent home today about this).
Lots of discussions are continuing within school and with the relevant bodies in the run up to the 23rd November and so I ask for your continued patience and support at this difficult time. We must continue to stick together and continue to provide the best education we can in the meantime for our wonderful children.
I will continue to provide further updates as we receive them and as always, our leadership team will be at the gates each morning should you have any further questions or comments.
