Welcome to Year 2's Class Page!
On this page you will find important notices, home learning links and fun activities to complete at home.
This page will also be used to showcase amazing work that is being completed by our Year 2 pupils.
Keep checking back for updates!
Spring has arrived and Year 2 have been busy planting! We planted lots of different types of seeds and flowers and can't wait to see how they grow. Here are some photographs from our Open Event.
Star of the Week!
Each week two children will be awarded Star of the Week.
Miss Booth will choose one child that has shown 100% effort and enthusiasm.
Throughout the week, Year 2 pupils have the opportunity to vote for their own Star of the Week using our class voting station. The winners will be announced every Friday. Good luck!
Phonics is a big focus for all children in Key Stage One and is the method by which children are taught to read. Year 2 have been busy preparing for the phonics screening check which will be administered during the autumn term. You can support your child by reading to them and listening to them read to you. You may also encourage your child to engage with phonics games and other online resources.
Here are some useful websites to use at home with your child.
A great resource to help children with their reading. Children have their own personal logins for the Phonics Bug website (please check your child's reading record book for login details).
A helpful resource that can be used to recap earlier phases.
A useful website offering lots of games to help engage children with their phonics. Although some games are free to play, please note that others require a login.
Spellings will be set weekly and follow the spelling pattern/ rule taught the previous week as part of phonics. Children will also receive common exception words to learn. In class, we refer to these as tricky words as they do not follow regular phonics patterns.
Homework will be set weekly on Mathletics and ReadiWriter. If you are looking for something extra, please remember you can always visit one of the websites below!
